CBSE 2026: The AI Revolution in Classrooms
The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has taken a historic step by making Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Coding mandatory subjects for all students in Class 9 and 10 starting from the 2025-26 academic session.
🤖 Why the Change?
The decision comes as part of the Phase 2 implementation of the National Education Policy (NEP). The board aims to:
- Bridge the Tech Gap: Ensure every student, regardless of their stream, is digitally literate.
- Future-Proofing: Prepare students for a job market where AI proficiency is no longer optional.
- Problem-Solving Skills: Coding helps in developing logical thinking and analytical skills from a young age.
📋 Curriculum Highlights
- Class 9: Basics of Python, Data Literacy, and Ethical AI.
- Class 10: Advance Python, Introduction to Machine Learning, and Capstone AI Projects.
🏫 Training for Teachers
CBSE has also launched an intensive "Train the Trainer" program to equip over 50,000 teachers with the necessary skills to teach these new subjects effectively by June 2026.
