NEET 2026: Fact Check on New Exam Pattern and Eligibility Rumors
NEET 2026: Rumor vs Reality
As a medical aspirant, staying away from misinformation is as important as your Physics numericals. Here is the fact-check on current NEET 2026 rumors.
📵 Rumor 1: The Exam is Going Online
Status: FALSE. As of late 2025, the NMC and NTA have confirmed that NEET (UG) will remain an Offline (Pen & Paper) exam using OMR sheets. The massive logistics and security requirements for a medical exam make a quick shift to online very unlikely.
👶 Rumor 2: Changes in Lower Age Limit
Status: FALSE. The minimum age remains 17 years on or before 31st December of the year of admission. There are NO plans to change this for the 2026 cycle.
📝 Rumor 3: Subject Weightage Change
Status: PARTIALLY TRUE. While the 180 (out of 200) questions format remains, there is a shift towards Applied Biology and Clinical Physics. Questions are becoming more "case-study" based to align with the new MBBS curriculum.
🛡️ Preparation Tip
Don't wait for notifications. Stick to your NCERT Mastery. 95% of the Biology paper will still be direct lines from the standard textbook.
